Many had predicted that Abhishek Sharma would finish as the leading run-scorer in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. However, the batsman recorded a duck in his first outing against the United States and did not play the second match against Namibia.

It was reported that Abhishek was unwell when he played the match against USA, and it was later revealed that he was hospitalized due to a stomach infection.

He is doubtful for the match against the Pakistan national cricket team on February 15, but Salman Ali Aga is hopeful that the left-handed batsman will recover in time and take part in the high-profile game. Salman Ali Aga, speaking at a press conference, said:

“We can’t help the weather. I hope Abhishek Sharma plays tomorrow. I hope he is recovering. We want to play against the best.”

Abhishek Sharma’s return to the playing eleven will mean that Kerala superstar Sanju Samson will again have to warm the bench, with India going in with two left-handed batsmen as openers.

Usman Tariq is our trump card – Salman Ali Aga

Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium provides a lot of help to the spinners and Salman Ali Aga reiterated this while talking to journalists.

He said that the dominance of spin will continue during the India-Pakistan match and termed mystery spinner Usman Tariq as his trump card.

Salman Ali Aga said, “It is possible that spinners may dominate, but you cannot deny the role of fast bowlers. We have good spinners but also good fast bowlers.”

He said, “For us every player is equal. You guys have made Usman Tariq so big. He is bowling well. He is our trump card.”

We have adapted well – Salman Ali Aga

Pakistan will have a big advantage over India in the blockbuster encounter as they have already played a few matches in Colombo and know the conditions better than the Indian team. Salman Ali Agha said:

“We have adapted well. We know the pitch. If that helps us I wouldn’t mind. We have to play good cricket for 40 overs.”

Historically, India has defeated Pakistan in both 50 overs and 20 overs in the World Cup, but this time the match is expected to be closer than ever as both the teams are strong on paper and the conditions promise to be exciting.

The Pakistani captain concluded, “Past records don’t matter. This will be a new day. You can’t change history but we can try to perform well and win this time.”
