After Australia’s win, Salman Ali Aga hints at T20 World Cup plans: Pakistan is playing Australia in a three-match T20 series. They have already won the series by leading 2-0. The Men in Green clinched the series after a 90-run win against the Australian team at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday. This is Pakistan’s first T20I series win over Australia since 2018. This will definitely boost the confidence of the team before the T20 World Cup.
With the 2026 T20 World Cup around the corner, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) official announcement on its participation in the premier event to be held in India and Sri Lanka is continuously getting delayed. Amidst all the controversies, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga hinted at attending the major ICC event after the home series win against Australia over the weekend.
Salman Ali Aga shines for Pakistan on Saturday
Salman Ali Aga, who was the team’s top scorer on Saturday, took matters into his own hands and played at a fast pace, scoring 76 runs from 40 balls. This helped his team score a total of 198/5. Despite having a poor rubber, the team will enter the third and final match of the series on Sunday with the same winning mentality and will try to clean sweep the Australian team. The match is scheduled in Lahore only.
Earlier, during the coin toss, the presenter had asked Aga if the pitches in Lahore in the ongoing T20 series were similar to the ones found in Sri Lanka, and that would help him. “When we go to Sri Lanka, we will get pitches like this,” he said.
‘Go into the World Cup with the same energy’- Salman Ali Aga
After the match, Salman Ali Aga said that the team is keen to continue its winning streak in major tournaments, making reference to the World Cup. “We batted well and then did brilliantly with the ball as well. The fielding was also brilliant. We want to play the same way, forget the 2-0 scoreline, come back with the same intensity and go into the World Cup with the same energy,” he said.
The comments have certainly created a stir in the cricket world, as Aga’s statement comes a day after fresh controversies emerged over the PCB’s continued delay in making its stance regarding the World Cup official. The message sent by the team’s media manager was deleted shortly after, reports RevSportz. It is being told that PCB can make the final announcement regarding his participation in the T20 World Cup on Monday.

If they do not participate then who will replace Pakistan?
Pakistan, which was supporting Bangladesh over its refusal to travel to India due to security reasons, has canceled its support after the ICC dropped Bangladesh and replaced it with Scotland. Following the latest reports, it has reportedly been said that Bangla Tigers will be kept on standby if Pakistan is knocked out of the T20 World Cup.
However, despite uncertainty over the Men in Green’s participation in the World Cup, the players have already booked their trip to Sri Lanka, where the team is scheduled to stay during the tournament. Everyone’s eyes will be on the news coming from Pakistan on Monday. Since they have been grouped with India, the match is scheduled for 15 February 2026.
