In the Asia Cup 2025, the pathetic form of India National Cricket Team captain Suryakumar Yadav continued in the Shikhar Clash of the tournament against the Pakistan National Cricket Team.
Suryakumar Yadav was rejected by a controversial hold by Salman Aga, captain of the Pakistan National Cricket Team at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 28.
Suryakumar Yadav’s terrible run in T20i cricket continues
India T20I captain Suryakumar has been undergoing a lean patch for a long time. Rohit Sharma has seen a massive decline since the former world number 1 batsman took over the reins of T20I.
Prior to the IPL, calls were made to remove Suryakumar Yadav as captain due to his extended lean patch. However, he set the stage on fire in the Indian Premier League 2025, with 717 runs for Mumbai Indians (MI).
This helped him to maintain the captaincy for the Asia Cup 2025. Shubman Gill was nominated by the BCCI as the vice-captain, as the board wanted to send a message to Suryakumar Yadav to take steps.
But Suryakumar Yadav is not able to improve his T20I batting form. In the ongoing Asia Cup, he looks pathetic, and his poor appearance continued in the Asia Cup final.
Chasing the target, Suryakumar Yadav came out in the third. On the third ball of the over, he hit a slow ball from Shaheen Afridi towards Salman Aga, who made a stunning dive to take a catch despite several times.
It seemed that the ball had hit the ground before jumping into his hands, but after seeing some replays, the third umpire was convinced that it was a reasonable catch. The fans were angry at Suryakumar Yadav to fall for one, but at the same time, he slammed the umpire for a controversial decision.
Overall, in T20I cricket in 8 innings against Pakistan, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 112 runs in 8 innings, a strike rate of 16 and 113.13 on an average.

Akash Chopra opens on Suryakumar Yadav’s rivalry comment
Speaking on Espncricinfo before India vs Pakistan match, former India opener Akash Chopra talked about Suryakumar Yadav’s comments, where he said that there is no rivalry between India and Pakistan because men in blue are very prominent for men. Chopra Detailed:
“This is true, you don’t do (see such comments). But I mean, we are now living in a very different world, a little modern world with people is probably a little more vocal and those who are reacting a lot more, as well as what happened in the past. So Surya was asked a question, as Varun is saying, of course, he said a fact.
“People in the past can be more diplomatic about it and skirts and will just go somewhere else and will not really address the question. But Surya chose to address the question. I mean, these are the times in which we are living and it is absolutely fine.
“I mean, let’s see if we reach the finals. It was before the game against Bangladesh. If we reach the finals, we will see how we are better and what kind of rivalry we are talking about. So from that point of view, stakes are really high. One thing that I am doing.
