The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has selected a group of 28 players ahead of the white-ball series against Australia. Pakistan will take on Australia in a 3-match ODI series starting on May 30. Interestingly, Sam Ayub is not part of the setup.
Ahead of the tour, the board has named a total of 28 players to conduct a special training camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The camp is expected to begin from May 15 and continue till May 21.
Pakistan Cricket Board releases official statement on its latest initiative
According to reports, there will be several training sessions as well as practice matches during the 7 days, through which the players of the group will have to prove themselves.
“Twenty-eight players will participate in the NCA white-ball camp, which will begin on Friday, May 15, the PCB announced today. The seven-day camp will conclude on Thursday, May 21, with players taking part in training sessions as well as practice matches,” the PCB reported in its official press release on May 13.
NCA coaching staff will assist the team in training
The PCB further informed that the players will be assisted by the NCA coaching staff and the team’s white-ball coaching staff to enhance the quality of the players. With many familiar faces, the extended group of players includes U19 fast bowlers like Abdul Subhan and Ali Raza.
“During the camp, the NCA coaching staff will work with the men’s team’s white-ball coaching staff to better prepare the players for the series. The camp also includes Pakistan U19 fast bowlers Abdul Subhan and Ali Raza, who represented Pakistan at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup held in Zimbabwe and Namibia earlier this year,” the press release stated.
The 28-man squad ahead of the Australia ODI series is as follows: Aamir Jamal, Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Arafat Minhas, Faisal Akram, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Hamza Nazir, Haris Rauf, Hunain Shah, Khawaja Mohammad Nafe, Maaz Sadaqat, Mehran Mumtaz, Mohammad Faiq, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Naseem Shah, Saad Baig, Saad Masood, Sahibzada Farhan, Shadab Khan, Shameel Hussain, Sufiyan Muqeem and Usman Khan.
The ODI series between these two teams will start from May 30 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The next two matches will be held at Gaddafi Stadium on June 2 and June 4 respectively.

The Men in Green win T20I series against Australia
Earlier this year, as part of the preparations, ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup, these two countries faced each other for a three-match T20I series. The Men in Green clinched the 3-match T20I series 3-0 on their home soil.
They will try to repeat this in the upcoming One Day International competition as well. Australia, on the other hand, will be aiming to make a strong statement in the white-ball format as they hope to field a number of emerging talents against Pakistan.
