The ICC released its weekly ranking on Wednesday, 1 October, and a major shake-up at the T20i all-rounder Standing. Pakistan’s opening batter Sam Ayub overtook Team India cricketer Hardik Pandya for the first time to claim the number one place in the ICC Mains T20 all-rounder rankings.
Pakistan suffered a five -wicket defeat against India in the final of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 28 September. Sam Ayub scored 14 off 11 balls before being dismissed at the summit. In particular, Pakistan lost all three matches against Suryakumar Yadav -led team.

Saim Ayub has claimed the number 1 place in the latest ICC men’s T20I all-rounder rankings. The 22 -year -old has 241 points, climbing four positions and crossing notable players such as Hardik Pandya, Mohammad Nabi, Sikander Raza and Deepender aircraft of India.
Hardik Pandya placed one place in second place with 233 points, but can re -rank the top ranking in the upcoming T20I series against Australia, provided that he fit to play, as injury is a matter of concern.
Other all -rounders also advanced to the ranking this week. Pakistan spinner Mohammad Nawaz stored four places in 13th place, while Sri Lankan captain Cherith Asanka made three places to share in 30th position.
Saim Ayub’s bowling heroes inspired him over Hardik Pandya
Sam Ayub did disappointing outing with the bat in the Continental Tournament. The left -handed batsman scored just 37 runs in seven innings, including four ducks. However, he impressed his bowling in the tournament.
SAIM took an average of 16 wickets in seven matches and eight wickets in just 6.40 economy. He was sometimes inaccessible with the ball, and the ICC rewarded him for his performance to jump into the T20i all-rounder rankings.
On the other hand, Hardik Pandya missed the final due to injury. He had very limited opportunities to bat, scoring an average of 16 runs with a strike rate of 120. With the ball, he managed only four wickets in six matches in the 8.57 economy with the best figures of 1/7.
Abhishek Sharma claims that the latest ICC men’s T20I batting rankings
India’s opener Abhishek Sharma has reached the top of the ICC men’s T20i batter rankings, reaching the record-breaking 931 rating points. Sharma crossed the previous record of 919 points set by former England batsman David Malan in 2020.
Sharma extended England opener Phil Salt with 82 rating points, while India team partner Tilak Verma is third after scoring 213 runs in the Asia Cup. Sri Lankan batter Patam Nisanka took two places to fifth place after receiving a career-high rating after his 261-run performance.
In bowling, India’s Varun Chakravradhi retained his place as the number 1-ranked T20I bowler after claiming seven wickets during the Asia Cup.
