Gujarat Titans batsman Sai Sudarshan is gearing up for the upcoming IPL season and after watching the Men in Blue roar to victory in the domestic T20 World Cup, he has shared his desire to win the World Cup with India someday.

The Indian left-handed batsman’s domestic season was cut short after the South Africa Test series ended on a poor note for India. He then scored for Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, before being ruled out due to a rib injury.

He has resumed training and increased his workload at the nets and will be available only for Gujarat Titans for the upcoming season of IPL. With a brilliant innings of 759 runs in 2025, he finished as the highest run-scorer in the last season.

I want to be a part of the World Cup winning team one day- Sai Sudarshan

Sai Sudarshan saw the Indian team’s dominance in the T20 World Cup on home soil in 2026 and he wanted to be a part of a similar setup someday. Like every young cricketer, he also wants to win the World Cup for India one day.

“I enjoyed seeing our team win the World Cup. It was a great team performance in which everyone contributed. Our coaches guided the team brilliantly and the support staff was also there.

“Overall it was a memorable performance and I want to be a part of a World Cup-winning team one day,” he said.

He is a class player. Sudarshan said about captain Shubman Gill that anyone can learn by watching him play.

Sai Sudarshan is keen to open the innings for Gujarat Titans along with experienced Indian opener Shubman Gill. Gill has a lot to prove himself after being dropped from the T20I setup ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Highlighting Gill’s role in his development as a T20 cricketer, Sudarshan says, “I am looking forward to playing with Gill. He is a class player. One can learn by watching him play. He has always encouraged me to play my natural game. His inputs and observations have made me a better player.”

Sai Sudarshan said, “Gill plays fluently and it is pleasant to watch. I hope we will be able to build good partnerships for our team.” He also said that the Titans team is very balanced in this IPL.

I am practicing power hitting etc. to stay consistent with the format- Sai Sudarshan

After playing so well last season, Sai Sudarshan was asked whether he felt the heat to perform more in the season or whether he was burdened by the expectations of the fans who wanted to see him perform.

The player casually said that he just wants to perform and is not bothered by any kind of pressure.

“There is no pressure. I am happy that people expect you to perform. I just want to go and play my game and take one match at a time. I have been practicing power hitting etc to keep pace with the format. This (IPL) is a good opportunity for me to score runs and try to get back into the national team,” he concluded.
