Sahibzada Farhan is back in the headlines once again as the Pakistan batsman brought back memories of creating a lot of noise by hitting Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the Asia Cup 2025.
Even though Pakistan had a disappointing Asia Cup 2025 campaign as they lost all the matches to India, Sahibzada Farhan was celebrated for hitting sixes off Bumrah. During the subcontinental tournament, Farhan had hit three sixes off Bumrah – two in the group match and one in the final. Those shots made him a superstar, especially in Pakistan.
Not only this, Sahibzada also worked in a documentary, where he talked about dominating Bumrah and hitting him for sixes, for which he was mercilessly trolled by fans on social media.

Sahibzada Farhan, in a video shared by ESPN Cricinfo, said: “Speaking about Bumrah, I don’t think there was only Bumrah in that (Indian) team. They all had some great bowlers like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. So, it’s not like there was only Bumrah.”
The Pakistani opener further added, “But I started with Bumrah. As a player, you get confidence when you hit a good player for sixes. If you see him, he gave me a tough time in the beginning. He was bowling slower balls, yorkers and bouncers.”
He swings the ball and bowls outswing and inswing. It is natural that it is very difficult to fulfill it. So, you have to find your way. When you overcome that thing, you overcome that thing. Then the rest of the bowlers seem easy to you, I think.”
Sahibzada Farhan told how he handled Jasprit Bumrah
Since India and Pakistan only play each other in multi-national events, it is a challenge for the players to play with each other, and even Farhan admitted that Bumrah tested him with slower balls, sharp yorkers and rising bouncers.
To deal with this challenge against Bumrah, the Pakistani opener shared that he prepared himself mentally for every ball, and he also felt that his experience of playing tape-ball cricket helped him a lot. Farhan shared, “I found it difficult in the first match.
He is famous for his yorkers and can bowl such balls at any time, so I was ready for it. I was very focused while facing him. When it comes to India-Pakistan, everyone’s focus is more. My experience of playing tape-ball cricket helped me. I have faced bowlers with strange actions in tape-ball cricket who bowled slow balls and yorkers. So that helped me.”

Sahibzada Farhan told how he prepares for the match
Sahibzada Farhan follows a simple yet smart routine before every match. Farhan revealed that he usually studies videos of the opposition bowlers given by team analyst Talha Ijaz the night before the game and understands how the bowlers use different variations at different stages.
And even before the match, he practices in the nets like a real game situation so that his body feels prepared, and his plan is always to attack the lead bowler early and put pressure on the attack.
