In match number 30, Gujarat Titans (GT) hosted Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. MI finally won their second game after four defeats in the IPL. They defeated the Titans by 99 runs in the evening and it was their first win for the franchise in Ahmedabad after losing six consecutive IPL matches here.
Tilak Verma was the hero after his amazing innings of 101* off 45 balls. The mental resilience he showed and his ability to score runs for his team in difficult situations was excellent. Tilak started slowly and scored 19 runs in 22 balls and then scored 82 runs in the next 23 balls.
Sachin Tendulkar was mesmerized by Tilak Verma’s innings
Tilak Verma was named player of the match for his exceptional performance. His century was the joint fastest century in MI history. Tilak Verma scored 26 runs on the ball of Ashok Sharma in the 18th over. MI scored 96 runs in the last six overs and helped Mumbai reach 199/5 in 20 overs.
After his sensational innings, former Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar was amazed by his mental strength and his hitting ability. Sachin serves as an icon and mentor for Mumbai and has been associated with the franchise since 2008.

Of course, the first 100 will always be special – Tilak Verma on his first century
Tilak Verma shares his insights after winning POTM in the game. He said, “Of course, the first 100 will always be special. It was very important for us. We don’t have much time from here. Every game is important for us. In the last five matches I did not get much time in the middle. So in this game I wanted to spend time in the middle.”

“So you saw the first 20 balls, I was just batting ball by ball. And then later I realized how much potential I have. I was just looking at the situation and what the team needed and I was just steady and keeping my head steady and following my fundamentals. I have all the fancy shots.”
“But when the team is under pressure it’s just about supporting your skills and today it gave me good results. [Partnership with Naman Dhir] This was very important. The credit goes to Naman for the way he played with positive intentions.โ
GT’s reliable top order faltered
While chasing, GT was never in the game as they lost Sai Sudarshan on the very first ball of the second innings before Jasprit Bumrah finally struck in IPL 2026. After this Jos Buttler made a low score, Shubman Gill also came back after being set. The Titans lost their top 3 inside the power play for the first time in IPL history.
After that, the home team never came back into the game and wickets kept falling at regular intervals and at one point even 100 runs looked impossible, but some runs from Kagiso Rabada lower down the order helped them reach just 100 runs.
