After being asked to bat first by England at Lord’s, India were all out for 285 in their first innings. In reply, England could manage only 170 runs thanks to a brilliant bowling performance by Kranti Goud, who took an impressive five wickets and gave India a strong first innings lead.

In the second innings, India declared at 341/7 courtesy a brilliant century from Yastika Bhatia and valuable half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana (70) and Rich Ghosh (50*) as they set a mammoth target of 457 runs for England in the one-off Test at Lord’s.

By the end of the third day, England were struggling at 130/6. Amy Jones was the only batsman to put up a strong fight, remaining unbeaten on 52, but England still needed 327 more runs to win on the fourth day. However, before the start of the final day, India had a surprise visitor.
