Arguably the most dominant force in the Twenty20 format, Vaibhav Suryavanshi finished the IPL 2026 season by claiming the titles of Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player of the Season, Super Striker of the Season, Orange Cap Winner and Super Sixers of the Season.
Since making his Indian Premier League debut with Rajasthan Royals in 2025, the 15-year-old has been delivering top-class innings in his own way. World-class bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and many others lost easily against the Rajasthan Royals batsmen.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi also influenced Sachin Tendulkar
Former cricketers, experts and cricket fans have no idea how a 15-year-old batsman can commit such massive carnage so easily. Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is among the former cricketers who are in awe of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s amazing batting skills.
In a Reddit post, Sachin Tendulkar said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s impact on the game goes beyond the runs he has scored. Every team in the league had to think about him, make a different strategy for him; Fans were waiting to see the teenage opening batsman in action.
“Vaibhav Suryavanshi impacted games far beyond the runs he scored. Opponents were thinking about him, teams were planning for him and fans were waiting for him long before he came to the crease,” Tendulkar wrote in a Reddit post.
Tendulkar believes that Vaibhav’s ability to score runs even under pressure is unmatched
Tendulkar observed that even in the pressure situations of the playoffs, the Bihar-born player’s batting approach did not change at all, which was unique in its own way. The former batsman further said that with Vaibhav Suryavanshi at the top of the batting order, Rajasthan Royals were always confident that they would get good results whenever they came out to play a match.
Sachin Tendulkar said, “His ability to score runs quickly in both the eliminator and the qualifiers showed that his determination remained unchanged despite the increasing pressure. More importantly, his batting gave Rajasthan Royals extra confidence whenever he came into the middle.”
Rajasthan Royals qualified for the play-offs after losing to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2. Despite the team’s failure to claim the trophy, Suryavanshi remains Indian cricket’s brightest prospect.
Suryavanshi scored 776 runs in all 16 matches for Royals at an average of 48.50 and a tremendous strike rate of 237.30. His figures are supported by five half-centuries and one century.
He played an inning of 96 runs in the Qualifier 2 match against Gujarat Titans on 29 May. This was one of those innings where Vaibhav Suryavanshi proved that he not only knows how to smash the balls but also performs with composure and awareness.
