Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has officially lifted the three-year ban imposed on former India fast bowler S Sreesanth. The decision came after S Sreesanth expressed regret for his public comments against the state cricket body on social media and other platforms and tendered an unconditional apology.

KCA had suspended Sreesanth in April 2025 ahead of the state league tournament. After the Thiruvananthapuram Munsif Court rejected his legal challenge, the KCA special general body met on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and unanimously decided to lift the ban, allowing him to return to cricket activities.

The Kerala Cricket Association’s decision to lift the ban has allowed S Sreesanth to continue as co-owner of Aries Kollam Cellars in the third season of the Kerala Cricket League. This move has removed the uncertainty regarding his role with the franchise.

The KCA had imposed a three-year ban just before the last edition of the Kerala Cricket League, putting Sreesanth’s participation with the team in doubt. Now with the suspension revoked, he is free to resume his responsibilities with the franchise.

However, KCA also issued a warning along with its decision. The board said any similar misconduct in future could lead to fresh disciplinary action against the former India fast bowler.

S Sreesanth initially challenged the three-year ban in the Thiruvananthapuram Munsif Court. However, after the court rejected his plea, the former India fast bowler tendered an unconditional apology to the Kerala Cricket Association, expressing regret for his public comments against the board.

During its Special General Body meeting, the KCA reviewed Sreesanth’s apology before taking its final decision. Members acknowledged that he had shown genuine remorse and unanimously agreed to revoke the ban, ending the disciplinary action.

“Recognizing that he had expressed unconditional regret, the meeting unanimously decided to lift the ban,” the Kerala Cricket Association said in its official statement.

S Sreesanth’s international career and domestic career

S Sreesanth represented India in all three formats. The right-arm fast bowler took 87 wickets in 27 Test matches at an average of 37.59, including three five-wicket hauls. His best match figures in Test cricket were 8/99.

He also impressed in limited overs cricket and took 75 wickets in 53 ODIs with a career best of 6/55. Sreesanth represented India and took seven wickets in 10 T20 matches.

The 43-year-old player also set an excellent domestic record. He took 213 wickets in 74 first-class matches, 124 wickets in 92 List A games and 54 wickets in 65 T20s. Sreesanth also played more than 40 IPL matches for Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals.

His career suffered a major setback after the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, due to which he had to remain suspended for a long time. However, the Supreme Court later acquitted him of all criminal charges and his BCCI ban ended in 2020.
