Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are allegedly searching for a major trade deal with Rajasthan Royals (RR) before the IPL 2026 season. According to Cricbuzz, CSK’s interest Rajasthan Royals (RR) Captain Sanju Samson is not just speculation, and real discussion is happening within the franchise.
Samson last played in IPL 2025 as Captain for RR. He has become the face of the team since he played the leadership role in 2021. RR has a win-loss record of 33 wins and 32 defeats under its captaincy. In particular, he took the team to the IPL 2022 finals, his first presence in the title clash of the tournament since 2008.

A senior CSK official confirmed that he was interested in getting a franchise Sanju Samson But it said that no formal talks have been held with Rajasthan Royals so far. Anonymously speaking to Cricbuzz, the official stated that trade options have not been advanced, as this process remains in its early stages.

IPL Trading Window is currently open, and Chennai Super Kings Sanju is not the only franchise interested in attaining Samson. According to the report, other teams have also contacted Rajasthan Royals about wicketkeeper-better.
Meanwhile, the Management of Royals recently held a review meeting in London, in which head coach Rahul Dravid participated. During the session, he discussed several trade inquiries for many players, not limited to Samson.
Despite the increasing interest, any business associated with Samson is unlikely to be done soon unless Rajasthan gets a suitable replacement. Lead owner Manoj Badle is expected to take a decision.
Disappointing weather for Sanju Samson’s RR in IPL 2025
Sanju Samson tolerated a challenging IPL 2025 Season as a player and captain of Rajasthan Royals. He was kept ₹ 18 crore ahead of the mega auction. However, his campaign was interrupted by injuries. Samson began the weather as an impact option due to the issue of a finger.
