RP Singh, former Mumbai Indians Star, takes an important position in BCCI

Former India players RP Singh and Pragan Ojha are likely to attend the selection committee headed by Ajit Agkar. In particular, senior officials of the Control Board for Cricket in India and major decision makers met informally in Delhi on Saturday to give the final form to the candidates for several vacancies on the board.

BCCI is set to hold an annual general meeting in Mumbai on 28 September. Several top posts including the presidency will be decided during the meeting. After the resignation of former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas Roger Binny, he has become at the forefront to take over as the chairman of the board.

BCCI set two vacancies in the selection panel

The BCCI last month invited the application panel to fill two vacancies. Eligible candidates were required to play at least seven Test matches, 30 first -class games, or 20 first -class performances with 10 Odis.

He must have retired from active cricket at least five years ago and did not hold any post in the BCCI Cricket Committee for a total of five years.

Two areas will get new selectors. Ajit Agkar, whose contract has been extended by September 2026, continues to lead the panel. During its tenure, India won the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ODI Champions Trophy. He also reached the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Agarkar oversee the transition in Indian cricket after the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from Test cricket, in which Shubman Gill was appointed as the new Test captain.

Pragan Ojha and RP Singh to join BCCI Senior Men’s Selection Committee

Pragana Ojha and RP Singh are ready to join the BCCI Senior Men’s Selection Committee, replacing the Sharath (South Region) and Subroto Banerjee (Central Zone) of the outgoing selectors. Ojha will replace Sharath under President Ajit Agkar, while Sharath will join the junior selection panel.

The BCCI will announce appointments on September 28, and the first responsibility of the new committee will select the Indian team for the upcoming two -match Test Home Series against the West Indies starting from October 2.

Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, is currently playing the Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In Blue, the men reached the Super Four Stage after winning all three groups-phase matches. They will expect to maintain form in the tournament and secure the title.

Cricket Advisory Committee to shortlist candidates before recommending BCCI

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), including Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe, and Sulakshman Naik, will shortlists and interview candidates before recommending names to BCCI office-bearers.

RP Singh played 14 Tests, 58 Odis and 10 T20I between 2005 and 2011. Left -handed pacer took 124 wickets in formats and was part of India’s inaugural T20 World Cup winning team under MS Dhoni.

RP Singh played domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. He was part of Gujarat’s 2016–17 Ranji Trophy Triumph.

Pragan Ojha represented India in 24 Tests, 18 Odis and 6 T20Is from 2008 to 2013. He took 144 international wickets in Tests and won a memorable 10-veer race in his final Test, which was Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell match. He played domestic cricket for Hyderabad, Bengal and Bihar.
