West Indies captain Roston Chase criticized the third umpire Adrian Holdstock for controversial decisions during the first test of the ongoing series against Australia at Barbados. Chase said that many suspicious calls were sent against his team, which despite giving all their players to be disappointed.
Despite the possible inside the edge during the first innings, Roston Chase was given a LBW for 44 runs. At the time of his dismissal, the West Indies were in a decent position at 139 to 5 in Australia’s 180s. However, the exhaust of the chase triggers a collapse, and the hosts managed only a narrow 10-ran lead.
In the same innings, Shai Hope was caught behind the Bu Webster, despite showing that wicketkeeper Alex Kerry would not have taken a cleanliness. However, the third umpire ruled in Australia’s favor, adding the frustrations of the West Indies.

Roston Chase called for accountability in umpiring after the first Test match. He said that the team had done well to dismiss Australia for a minor clan and was in a competitive position. However, he said that the suspicious decisions went against the West Indies throughout the match.
“This game is a disappointing for me and for the team because we had dropped Australia for a relatively low score. We were very happy with it. But then there were a lot of suspicious calls in the game and none of them went in our way. I mean, as a player, as a player, you are out of there, you are giving all your, you are fighting.

Roston Chase said that everything was going on against the West Indies. He said that repeated adverse decisions made the players feel disappointed and isolated. Chase also said that the umpires have no consequences for suspicious or wrong decisions.
Chase said, “It is clear to see that anyone will feel bad or will get hurt about those decisions. You are playing to win there, giving it everything, and it seems that everyone is against you.”
He said, “This is disappointing because as players, when we mess up, when we get out of the line, we are strictly punished. But the authorities, nothing happens to them. They have just a wrong decision or suspicious decision, and the life just walks,” he said.
Head coach Dairan Sammy took action after the second day after meeting with the match referee Javagal Srinath. Sammy was a critic of the third umpire Adrian Holdstock, alleging prejudice against the West Indies with several of his decisions.
