Rohit Sharma is being examined before the ODI series against Australia.

After losing India’s ODI captaincy to Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma’s start to the series came under scrutiny and questions started being raised about his place in the team. The right-handed batsman scored only eight runs in the opening match.

However, he regained his form in the second match and scored 73 runs on 97 balls. The 38-year-old player then scored a century in the last ODI match. He scored his 33rd ODI century at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, 25 October.

Rohit scored unbeaten 121 runs in 125 balls with the help of 13 fours and three sixes. The team achieved the target of 237 runs with nine wickets and 69 balls remaining. However, Shubman Gill’s team lost the series by a margin of 1-2.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s partnership helped India to a comfortable win

In the third ODI, Australia won the toss and batted first. Matt Renshaw scored 56 runs in 58 balls and captain Mitchell Marsh added 41 runs in 50 balls. The host team was all out for 236 runs in 46.4 overs. Harshit Rana was the best bowler for India, who took 4 wickets for 39 runs.

Rohit and Virat Kohli made a partnership of 168 runs for the second wicket. Kohli, who recorded back-to-back ducks early in the series, scored an unbeaten 74 off 81 balls.

Rohit equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record by scoring nine ODI centuries against Australia. He finished the three-match series as the leading run-scorer with 202 runs. The former captain won both Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his stellar performance.

India’s next ODI match against South Africa will be held at home in November-December. The Men in Blue will face the Proteas in the first ODI of the three-match series in Ranchi on Sunday, November 30.
