Indian opener Rohit Sharma has created history by becoming the player to hit the most sixes in One Day International (ODI) in the opening match of the ongoing three-match ODI series against South Africa at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Sunday (November 30).
Rohit Sharma’s record-breaking moment came courtesy of young South African fast bowler Marco Johnson, who bowled a short ball to the right-handed batsman.

Rohit Sharma out LBW and Marco Jensen break dangerous partnership in Ranchi
However, after this milestone, Rohit Sharma was given out LBW by Marco Jansen. The South African fast bowler bowled a back-of-the-length ball which was not getting much bounce. The hitman tried to swing and pull the ball, but missed. The ball hit the back of his thigh, with impact in front of the stumps, which meant the umpire ruled him out LBW.

Before leaving, Rohit had a brief conversation with Virat Kohli, but he did not review the decision. The wicket ended his innings at 57 off 51 balls, including five fours and three sixes, as Jensen finally broke a dangerous 136-run partnership for the second wicket in Ranchi.
Well, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad were recalled to the ODI team, but both the players failed to live up to the expectations in Ranchi. Currently, India’s score is 193/3 after quick wickets of Rohit and Gaikwad (8 runs off 14 balls) against South Africa in Ranchi.
Rohit Sharma surprised everyone with his athletic transformation
Meanwhile, the former Indian captain caught everyone’s attention with his completely changed look in the ongoing first ODI against South Africa. The experienced batsman has slimmed down and looks more athletic, moving faster on the field and running brilliantly between the wickets.
His batting is faster than ever, with quick reactions and improved agility making him a threat from the very first ball. The change is not just physical, but his presence on the field also looked more energetic and impressive at the JSCA International Stadium Complex.
This change clearly shows Rohit’s determination to remain at the top and become a major force for India in the lead up to the ICC World Cup 2027. Notably, this was Rohit’s third consecutive half-century in ODI cricket after announcing his retirement from Test cricket earlier this year.
