Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma was caught peeping into the phone of Reliance Foundation founder Nita Ambani and the video went viral on social media platforms. The incident occurred during the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final between India and South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final on Sunday, 2 November. The Women in Blue won their first World Cup trophy, and many former cricketers, business personalities and politicians were present to witness the moment. Rohit and his family were also seen along with the Ambani family at the venue.

A light-hearted moment from the Women’s World Cup final went viral when Rohit Sharma was seen looking at Nita Ambani’s phone during the match. The two were sitting together in the VIP box of the DY Patil Stadium, where Rohit was accompanied by his wife Ritika Sajdeh.
As Nita Ambani used her phone while watching the game, the cameras captured Rohit Sharma curiously looking at her screen again and again. The clip quickly went viral on social media and became a topic of discussion among fans.
One fan wrote, “If I were there, I would also watch.” Another joined in with the witty comment: “Can’t message right now, Ro is next to me!!” Another user joked that Nita Ambani might be adding items to her online shopping list, quipping, “That’s what madam is adding to the cart.”
Shafali Verma was chosen player of the match in the World Cup final
India won their first Women’s ODI World Cup by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
India scored 298/7 when invited to bat first. Shafali Verma scored 87 runs in 78 balls, while Deepti Sharma added 58 not out. Smriti Mandhana (45) and Richa Ghosh (34 off 24 balls) scored valuable runs. Ayabonga Khaka was the best bowler for South Africa with three wickets.
Despite a brilliant century from captain Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa faltered in chasing the target. The rest of the batting line-up failed to provide support as India bowled them out for 246. Deepti Sharma bowled the decisive spell of the match, taking five wickets, and Shafali contributed with two wickets.
Rohit Sharma was last seen in action during Australia ODI
Rohit Sharma led the Men in Blue to the ICC Trophy as captain. India ended their ICC title drought with the 2024 T20 World Cup win, and he later led the team to the 2025 Champions Trophy win in the UAE.
The 38-year-old was last seen in action during the ODI series against Australia, where India lost 2-1. However, he scored 202 runs in three innings at an average of 101 and a strike rate of 85. He was named Player of the Series for his batting performance.
The right-handed batsman reached the No. 1 spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings for the first time in his career. Rohit has scored 11,370 runs in 276 ODI matches at an average of 49.22, which includes 59 half-centuries and 33 centuries.
The experienced opening batsman is expected to be back in action later this month when India host South Africa for a three-match ODI series starting on November 30 in Ranchi.
