Team India’s batter Rohit Sharma has opened a controversial moment by incorporating Rishabh Pant from the T20 World Cup final last year. Sharma admitted that he initially felt that the pants were actually injured during South Africa’s run chase, but the pants had only hurt to disrupt the speed of South Africa.
India broke the 11 -year ICC Trophy drought by winning the T20 World Cup in Barbados on 29 June last year. The team won seven runs over South Africa in the encounter. This was India’s first ICC Trophy after the 2013 Champions Trophy, when MS Dhoni inspired the team to win England.

Speaking on Star Sports, Rohit Sharma admitted that he initially felt that Pant had injured his knee, which was a shock in the 2022 car accident.
Hardik Pandya and Rohit were discussing bowling plans and were unaware of the real situation. Rohit later felt that the pants intentionally stopped the injury to stop the game and break the speed of South Africa.
Rohit told Star Sports in an interview, “Look, Hardik has come there to bowl. So, we were discussing with Hardik what to do. I didn’t know what happened before. I really thought something happened to him,” Rohit told Star Sports in an interview.
“She was an accident, I thought he was just trying. But in fact, it was just to stop the game a little. The speed was with them. So, it was very important to break it. So, I think we went back to him. Finally, Hardik sacked Klassen,” he said.
South Africa under the control of chasing before Rishabh Pant’s gesture
South Africa was under control, the crease required just 26 runs from the final 24 balls with Heinrich Klassen and David Miller at the crease. When Rohit Sharma was establishing the ground and discussing plans with Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant went to the ground.
Hardik rejected Klassen, and Jasprit Bumrah then bowled to a brilliant in-swinger to remove Marco Jansen. India’s bowlers, including Hardik and Arshdeep Singh, tightened the screws in the overs of the death, prohibited the protiaz and sealed the seven -run win.

During an appearance at the Great Indian Kapil show, Rohit Sharma praised Rishabh Pant for his quick thinking during the T20 World Cup final. Rohit mentioned that it was not the only turn, it played a role and worked in favor of India.
He said, “The physiotherapist had arrived and he was tapping his knee. Klassen was waiting for the match to start again. I am not saying that this is the only reason, but it could be one of them – Pant Saheb used his smart and things and used to work in our favor,” he said.
