The great modern-day batsman of the Indian national cricket team, Rohit Sharma, who is sometimes fondly called ‘Shana’ by the fans, has taken a sharp dig at the England national cricket team.
Rohit Sharma took a dig at Ben Stokes-led England after their defeat in the ongoing Ashes series against the Australia national cricket team.
Playing in Australia is the most difficult – Rohit Sharma
The English team entered the Ashes 2025-26 with high expectations as they had some extremely talented players in their squad and were further helped by injuries to Australian players.
However, they still struggled to take advantage of moments and lost the first three Tests in a row against an Australian team that was not at full strength, losing the series within 11 days of play.
Australia is a powerful team at home in Test cricket and India was the only team that troubled them for the longest time, but the Australian team had also defeated India during the last home series.
Meanwhile, speaking at an event in Gurugram on Sunday, Rohit Sharma said that playing in Australia is quite difficult, before taking a dig at the English team. Rohit Sharma said:
“Australia is the toughest to play in, you can ask England.”

It will be difficult to play in Australia, but being a great batsman, Rohit Sharma has shown his dominance in the country in the last few years. Most recently, he won the Player of the Series award with scores of 73 and 121* in the three-match ODI series against Australia.
Can’t wait to prepare for England’s next tour to Australia – Aakash Chopra
Former India opener Aakash Chopra also took a sharp dig at England’s Ashes loss, saying that they have adopted ‘entertainment’ instead of ‘results’ by showing buzzball.
“Can’t wait to prepare for the next time England go to Australia. For sure, they will be the best English team to play the Ashes,” the cricketer-turned-commentator wrote on Twitter.
“And English cricket fans will admit it, they can’t blame them either… they’ve already switched to ‘entertainment’ rather than ‘results’.”

England legends criticize Ben Stokes and Co.
Meanwhile, former England captains Nasser Hussain and Alastair Cook were not happy after England’s defeat and also criticized the Ben Stokes-led team.
“If you had told the England hierarchy here and at home that Josh Hazlewood is not going to bowl a single ball, Nathan Lyon is going to be injured, Cummins is going to miss a few Test matches, Smith is going to be out, they would have said ‘wow’. In fact, we got what we got on every other Ashes tour and that’s what disappoints me,” Hussain said on Sky Sports.
“Australia deserve it. England will regret these three games,” Sir Alastair Cook said on TNT Sports.
