While Mumbai Indians prepare for their final encounter in the ongoing IPL 2026 season against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on May 24, Rohit Sharma has made a big comment on Indian cricket.
The former India captain, under whose leadership the Men in Blue claimed the 2024 T20 World Cup, wants to see the country emerge as a cricket powerhouse. The opening batsman believes that, with the way the country is progressing, with India winning back-to-back trophies in ICC events, it is destined to become the number one cricket playing nation across the world.

I want India to become the powerhouse of world cricket: Rohit Sharma
“I want India to be the powerhouse of world cricket… That’s the bottom line, because I want India to be the best, and cricket is right there. What we have done in the last three years is fantastic to see. From the 2024 World Cup to the Women’s World Cup, U19 World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy and another T20 World Cup. I hope we continue our winning streak,” Rohit Sharma said ahead of the match in a video shared by Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians will make some special arrangements for the last match of their campaign. The MI vs RR match will be held in front of 20000 children. Rohit Sharma says that it would be wrong to put extra pressure on children as they are very young in their life.
Rohit’s advice for young cricket fans
The former captain said, “It depends on the age. I know kids range from six years to 18 years. You don’t want to put too much pressure on them so early in a child’s life. They should just enjoy the game, watch and play with their friends. That’s how it all started for me. The situation will tell you what’s important at the moment. Enjoy the game you want to play. Nobody can force you to do something.”

He said, “Since my debut till now, there have been many such instances where I got to learn what I need to do if I want to come up from here. No journey in sports is easy; there are ups as well as ups, which teaches you many things.”
Rohit Sharma tells about his journey with Mumbai Indians
During the conversation, Rohit Sharma shared his journey with Mumbai Indians. The franchise has won 5 IPL titles under his leadership. Even at the age of 39, Rohit believes that nothing is more important than the team. He also points out that playing as a captain and playing as a normal player is not the same.
Rohit Sharma said, “I have learned a lot from my India and Mumbai Indians captaincy. One has to keep everything aside and ensure that the team goal is more important. When one is a captain, it is a different story because one does not have to worry about just one’s own performance. You have to worry about the performance of others as well.”
“If you have scored 100 runs and the rest have not performed, and the team has lost the game, then it is worrying. It will not give you peace of mind until the results come. Even in my personal life, it has taught me how to invest, buy, sell and behave with the person sitting in front of me. All the above things come because of the game I play,” he added.
