Nitish Kumar Reddy created history when he made his ODI debut during the first match of the ongoing three-match series between India and Australia on Sunday (October 19).
He became the first player from Andhra to represent India in all three formats of international cricket.

The 22-year-old became the third cricketer from his state to represent India in the 50-over format after Venugopal Rao and Ambati Rayudu.
Nitish Reddy made his debut in Test cricket during the Australia tour last year. He announced his arrival at the highest level of the game by scoring a brilliant century during the Melbourne Test. Earlier, he had made his T20 debut against Bangladesh in October.

Nitish Kumar Reddy got his first ODI cap from none other than one of India’s greatest ODI players, Rohit Sharma. While handing over the cap to the young all-rounder, Rohit made a bold prediction. The former Indian captain backed Nitish Kumar Reddy to become a great player across all formats for the team.
Rohit said, “Cap number 260, Nitish Reddy, welcome to the club. You have had a great start to your career and it is only because of how you want to play the game and what is your attitude. I am 110% sure that with this attitude you will go very far in this Indian team.”
He said, “You will be a great player in all formats, I have full confidence in that because as you said in your speech yesterday, you want to be everywhere. That is where we all want to be. So, all the best and I am sure the team will rally around you. Whatever you need, any time you need anything, everyone will be there to support you. All the best, have a great career.”

Nitish Kumar Reddy managed to impress with his explosive cameos with the bat. He scored 19 runs with the help of 2 sixes in just 11 balls, as India’s innings ended at 136/9 in 26 overs. In reply, Australia achieved the target in less than 22 overs and took the lead in the three-match series.
