The electric atmosphere at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium during the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026 gave fans some fun and memorable moments, and one of them included India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma, who has retired from Test and T20I cricket, is the brand ambassador of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 and was present at the iconic Wankhede Stadium where the defending champions defeated England by seven runs in a last-over thriller on Thursday, March 5.

In the viral clip, Rohit looked completely excited as he stood near the boundary for an interview with the official broadcaster and his former Indian teammate Dinesh Karthik. And it seemed as if the excitement of the high-voltage semi-final had rubbed off on the Hitmen.

While waiting for the interview to start, the India ODI captain suddenly started shadow batting with the microphone in his hand and most importantly, he looked so serious as if he was about to face a delivery. This moment immediately caught everyone’s attention on the field.

Rohit looked comfortable and playful, swinging the mic like a bat and imagining shots in the air, while the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium roared in the background. This shows how the big semi-final between India and England on Thursday had enthralled everyone.

India vs England Semifinal Highlights

Talking about the match, the Men in Blue defeated England by 7 runs in a thrilling semi-final and will face New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.

India posted a huge score of 253/7 on the board when England were invited to bat first. Sanju Samson played a brilliant inning of 89 runs in just 42 balls. Shivam Dubey scored 43 runs, while Ishan Kishan added 39 runs.

Hardik Pandya (27) and Tilak Verma (21) also made valuable contributions. Chasing a big target, Jacob Bethel played a brilliant inning of 105 runs for England. He tried his best to lead his team to victory, but England was limited to 246 runs and lost the match by just 7 runs.

Hardik Pandya was the best bowler for India with two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakraborty took one wicket each.

Meanwhile, the England camp was surprised to see Rohit Sharma’s new look during the T20 World Cup semi-final in Mumbai. The former captain looked quite slim, and his huge fitness transformation soon became a hot topic on the field.

Former England captain Eoin Morgan and head coach Brendon McCullum also immediately noticed the change. Both were surprised at how much weight Rohit had lost in recent months.

Morgan couldn’t hide his surprise at the dramatic change in Rohit’s fitness and asked, “In the shape of your life?” What’s going on?” The hitman replied to them, “Just chilling.”

But it was McCullum who summed up the moment perfectly when he looked at Rohit and jokingly asked, “Where are the rest of you?” Rohit immediately replied with a smile, “It’s all gone.”

Notably, Rohit has already lost around 10 kg as he focuses strongly on fitness while chasing his dream of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
