Rohit Sharma, Jay Shah, Sachin Tendulkar and others unite in DY Patil to inspire India to Women’s World Cup victory

India national cricket team’s legendary captain Rohit Sharma arrived at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai to cheer the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final.

Rohit Sharma was accompanied by his wife Ritika Sajdeh at the stadium and other big names like God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar, the great Sunil Gavaskar, great batsman VVS Laxman and ICC Chairman Jay Shah were also seen in the stands.

Rohit Sharma supports Indian women’s team

The India women’s national cricket team is currently involved in an exciting summit clash against the South Africa women’s national cricket team. The Proteas are a strong unit and they gave a tough fight to the Indian team.

Team India players have created some magical moments on the field in the ongoing game and have received immense support from the crowds present in Navi Mumbai as well as across the country.

Many big superstars like Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Sunil Gavaskar as well as Nita Ambani and Jay Shah were seen in the stands cheering for the Women in Blue.

When Rohit went to the hospitality box before taking the seat next to his wife Ritika Sajdeh, he was seen wearing a white T-shirt and a black cap. Seeing Rohit at the venue, his close friend and former teammate Dinesh Karthik, who was commentating, said:

“Oh, there’s a familiar scene. He wants to be a part of that moment. He told me yesterday that when India crosses that line, he wants to be a part of that moment and feel what it’s like to win a World Cup on home soil.”

Speaking in a video shared by the ICC at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, Rohit Sharma said the India women’s team came very close to winning the title but failed to cross the finish line. He said:

“I know what they have gone through all these years chasing that elusive trophy. It has always been tough. We came very close at times, but could not cross the line. It has been the same story for both the teams in the last 15 years. I really hope they cross it this time.”

The World Cup-winning captain lauded India women for playing sensational cricket over the past few years and expressed hope that the team will eventually cross the finish line and win their first World Cup. He said:

“The way we played that game was fantastic to watch. So I’m not surprised to see 50,000 people here today. Along with them, the whole country is behind these 15 players.”

“He has already made huge progress in the last five or six years – and it is only going to grow from here,” Rohit said. “I hope he gets the crown today. This will not only benefit these players, but will also benefit the younger generation who look up to him. There is no better ambassador for the game at this time than him.”
