Auspicious moment for Rohit Sharma. The former India captain, who led the India national men’s cricket team to the 2024 T20 World Cup title, received the prestigious Padma Shri award on June 23.
The opening batsman received the award from the President of India Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Rohit Sharma received the award with a bright smile on his face and applause from the people present inside the room.
Rohit Sharma has been honored with the Padmashree Award.

Ahead of the ceremony, in a video shared by Doordarshan Sports on X, Rohit Sharma thanked the Government of India for choosing him for this grand moment. The opening batsman expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his career. He also said that this award is equally important for his family.
“Namaskar! On being honored with the Padma Shri award, I would like to thank the Government of India from the bottom of my heart. This is a very important moment for me and my family. I would also like to thank everyone who has played an important role in my career. I will try to continue winning trophies and matches for India. Thank you! Jai Hind!” Rohit Sharma said in the video.
Along with Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team is also included among the players who received Padma Shri this year.
