Rohit Sharma is all set to take part in the three-match ODI series in the upcoming Australian tour as he shared his plans with Mayanti Langer and reminisced about his illustrious career in the prevailing Australian conditions.
Ahead of the much-awaited series against Australia, former Indian captain Rohit Sharma is all set to make his much-awaited comeback in the white-ball tournament as he last played in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
The veteran has retired from the other two formats of the game, while he remains in the Indian team for the 50-over format as they eye the ICC World Cup 2027 after narrowly missing out on winning the trophy in 2023.

Rohit recently joined Mayanti Langer on a talk show, where the player discussed his legacy against Australia and was then congratulated for his immense contribution to Indian cricket.
“Your first visit to Australia was in 2008?” presenter Mayanti Langer asked, while former captain Rohit Sharma replied, ‘Yes, 2008!’
He further added, “From 2008 to now, 2025 – it’s a big change. You like this opponent and you like scoring runs against them.”
Rohit Sharma replied, “I love playing against them, and I love going to Australia. It’s a challenging country to play cricket and the people there also love the game. But of course, Australia will present a different challenge every time they play against us.”
“But having been there a few times, I understand what to expect. But hopefully, we can go there and do what the Indian team needs to do. Try and win games and get the results in our favour,” he said, highlighting the challenges posed by the Australian team.
Rohit Sharma trains on bouncy pitches in the nets for Australian conditions
According to reports, Rohit Sharma has resumed practicing in the nets at the Mumbai ground. His practice session also includes 2 hours of immersive batting practice, throwdowns and many other fielding sessions. Rohit has also worked a lot on his fitness before the series.
His unique preparations also include practicing in Australian conditions. He has asked for a newly designed bouncy track, and he has also asked for the inclusion of lean fast net bowlers so that he can face the Australian type of bowlers.
The Australian pace attack includes players like Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Xavier Bartlett and Ben Dwarshius, who are tall fast bowlers and provide some excellent support in bouncy conditions.
Despite being ignored for captaincy, Rohit may have hopes from World Cup 2027
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have made their much-awaited comeback to the Indian ODI team after being away from international cricket for more than 8 months.
Both the stars had stellar performances in the Champions Trophy, with Kohli scoring a century against Pakistan and a match-winning inning against Australia, while the Indian captain was dominant in the Champions Trophy final.
They were also the two highest-scoring cricketers in the ICC World Cup 2023; However, India lost in the final of the tournament.
Both the legends are planning to play for India in the 2027 World Cup, which will be held in South Africa; However, the Indian management has not yet given any clarity on the roles of the two giants.
