Another worrying moment for Indian cricket fans when Rohit Sharma suffered a concussion during India vs Afghanistan 1scheduled tribe 3 match ODI series in Dharamshala.
In the very first over of the second innings, the opening batsman got a bumper on the ball of Afghanistan’s fast bowler Azmatullah Omarzai. This was a free hit for Team India and the ‘Hitman’ was on strike. To prevent the batsman from scoring a big score, Umarzai hit it hard at short length to surprise Rohit Sharma.

Physio reached the field to see Rohit Sharma
The fast bowler’s plan worked as the batsman was unwilling to play his trademark pull shot. The ball hit his right wrist directly. Due to pain, Sharma immediately threw the bat on the ground.
The physio immediately reached the field to take a look. After brief medical aid, the match continues with Rohit Sharma in the middle.

After getting medical support on the field, Rohit Sharma started batting again. However, his innings did not last long and his wicket fell on the throw of Rashid Khan. Sharma was out after scoring 16 runs in 16 balls with the help of two fours and one six. When Rohit Sharma lost his wicket, India’s score was 46 runs in the sixth over of the second innings.
Rohit was unsure about facing Afghanistan
Ahead of the ODI series, the 39-year-old’s participation in the ODI series was a matter of serious concern due to a hamstring problem. During the IPL 2026 season, Rohit missed a few matches due to a hamstring injury. After returning from recovery, he played only as an impact player for Mumbai Indians.
The Mumbaikar, who already has a history of hamstring injuries, became more worried due to the recent knock. Since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wanted to assure 100% for all its players in the squad for the series, they had to prove their fitness at the Board’s Center of Excellence (CoE). Sharma joined the team after proving his fitness level in the COE.
Hardik Pandya is completely out of the current ODI series
Another star cricketer, Hardik Pandya was also in the COE due to a separate injury threat. Like Rohit, Pandya also got injured during the IPL 2026 campaign with Mumbai Indians. The fast bowling all-rounder was ruled out of some matches of IPL 2026 due to back spasms.
It was expected that Pandya would be seen in action in the ODI against Afghanistan as the injury was not serious enough to rule him out of the series completely. But in a shocking development, he has ruled himself out of the 3-match ODI series due to a fresh injury.
According to previous reports, when Hardik Pandya was about to get clearance from the medical team, he injured himself again.
