Former Team India captain Rohit Sharma faced an awkward situation after landing in Mumbai from Jamnagar when a small group of fans gathered around him. Rohit expressed frustration as fans tried to hold his hand and forcefully take selfies, and warned them to close his car window before leaving.

The batsman was last seen in action for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 155 against Sikkim, then got out on the first ball against Uttarakhand. The senior batsman will focus on international cricket and represent India in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting January 11.

In a video posted on social media, Rohit Sharma was seen getting angry at the fans after returning from Jamnagar. Rohit had gone to Jamnagar with his family to celebrate his daughter Samaira’s birthday. When he reached Mumbai, some young fans came close to his car.

He accepted them at the beginning and even shook hands with a fan. However, the situation quickly went out of control when two fans tried to pull his hand and forcefully take a selfie while he was still inside the moving car.

Rohit was clearly upset with his behaviour. He warned the fans, closed his car window and moved on. The incident sparked online discussion about fan limits and player safety.

Rohit Sharma enjoys stellar 2025 season

Rohit finished 2025 with 650 runs in 14 ODI innings at an average of 50.00 and a strike rate of over 100. He scored two centuries and four half-centuries, with his best score being 121 not out.

Rohit will open the batting with Shubman Gill who has returned as captain. Key players Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested as part of workload management ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup.

With very few ODI series scheduled before the World Cup, India are counting on every tournament to end their 16-year title drought. Tickets for the opening match in Vadodara were reportedly sold out within minutes. Rohit is currently ranked No. 1 in the ICC ODI rankings, while Virat Kohli is at the second position.
