Team India’s squads for the upcoming Australia Tour are expected to be revealed today (Saturday, 4 October), including selections for Odis and T20I. Rohit Sharma is likely to return to the ODI lineup.
India will visit Australia in two weeks for a series in three ODIs and five T20I matches starting from October 19. The selectors may rest some players, while the other can be called back the team. In particular, the Indian cricket team is currently playing a two -match Test series against the West Indies at home.

According to Deputy Sports Editor, Vaibhav Bhola in News 24, Rohit Sharma was not invited to the ODI selection meeting, where a new captain is expected to be announced soon. Vaibhav said that the BCCI felt that Rohit would have considered retirement after winning the Champions Trophy. According to a report by the Indian Express, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the new ODI skipper.

According to the Indian Express, Shubman Gill is expected to capture the ODI captaincy for a three -match series against Australia, while veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will also be part of the squad.
The selectors discussed the move with Gill, which aims to prepare him as the leader of India for the 2027 ICC World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Gill also attended the selection meeting, informing the young captain about the planned leadership transition to Rohit along with head coach Gautam Gambhir.
“It is understood that Rohit and Kohli remain in the plan for ODI for now, but will play their first competitive matches in eight months. Their last game was the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand, which India won by four wickets by four wickets under Rohit’s captaincy.”
