Veteran India opener Rohit Sharma made a stylish public appearance with Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani during the opening match of The Hundred 2026. The 39-year-old attended the season opener between MI London and Sunrisers Leeds at the Kennington Oval in London on Tuesday, July 21.
India recently completed its white-ball tour of England. The Shubman Gill-led Men in Blue lost the ODI series 2-1 after going down by 27 runs in the decider at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Sunday. Under the leadership of Harry Brook, England successfully defended the huge score of 387 runs despite Rohit Sharma’s century.

Rohit Sharma was seen with Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani during the opening match of The Hundred 2026. The 39-year-old featured in the clash between MI London and Sunrisers Leeds.
Rohit wore a black Henley T-shirt with light blue jeans, white sneakers, a dark green cap and black sunglasses. The former Mumbai Indians captain also spent time with fans outside the stadium and posed for several photographs.
This match marked the debut of MI London, formerly Oval Invincibles, after the franchise was purchased by the Reliance Group. Amid reports that Mumbai Indians are looking for a new captain in the IPL, Rohit watched the match with Nita Ambani.

“Great slap with the bat”- Ravi Shastri praised Rohit Sharma
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who was on commentary during the opening match of The Hundred 2026, saw Rohit Sharma in the stands. Shastri said that the former Indian captain answered his critics by scoring a brilliant century in the last ODI against England.
Shastri said during commentary, “Okay, the Hitman has arrived, Ravi. Yes, he will be nice and relaxed after silencing his critics. There was a lot of noise before that last ODI, and then an answer, a nice slap with the bat. 138. His first century at Lord’s. Yes, he has seen it all, five titles for Mumbai Indians as captain.”
Ahead of the series decider, several reports claimed that the Lord’s ODI could be Rohit’s final appearance in this format. However, The experienced opening batsman put an end to the speculations by scoring a brilliant 138 runs in 110 balls.Which includes 17 fours and five sixes.
Sam Curran and Nicholas Pooran give MI London a winning start
Sunrisers Leeds, formerly Northern Superchargers, were struggling after MI London decided to bowl first. The visitors were all out for 143 runs in 99 balls, with Mitchell Marsh being the top scorer with 41 runs in 27 balls. MI London fast bowler Richard Gleeson was the best bowler, taking 4 wickets for 25 runs in 19 balls.
MI then quickly slipped to 51/3 while chasing the London target. However, captain Sam Curran and Nicholas Pooran put the hosts in complete control with an unbeaten 93-run partnership off just 40 balls.
Curran scored unbeaten 60 runs in 39 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. Puran finished the match with an unbeaten 58 runs in 22 balls with the help of five fours and five sixes. MI London won by seven wickets with 16 balls remaining.
