Robin Uthappa had said that when Yuvraj Singh, who defeated cancer and won several World Cups for India, was trying to return to India under the leadership of Virat Kohli, he was told that “his lung capacity has reduced.”
He also said that it was good to maintain the standard level in the Indian team, but exceptions should have been made for a player like Yuvraj Singh.
Talking about the Ambati Rayudu case, Uthappa said that “if Virat dislikes someone or he feels that he is not good then he is out.” He mentioned how Rayudu was not selected for the 2019 World Cup despite being in good shape and injustice was done to the then India captain Kohli.

Robin Uthappa also revealed that he personally spoke to Virat Kohli after an interview with Saurabh Dwivedi and apologized to him.
“In that whole conversation, the intention was not intended to speak about Virat. This interview was about me. I was asked a question from which I spoke. I did not pay attention to Virat’s feelings or the fact that whether it is what I believe, I should know what I believe and it gives me the right to give voice.
Robin Uthappa said, “My relationship with Virat was impressed by this. It was my learning when I talked to him, that I should have talked to him before,” Robin said Uthappa.

Accepting his mistake, the former Indian batsman said he did not speak about his experiences with Kohli or his leadership style; Instead, he gave up comments on the treatment of other players. He said:
“I didn’t speak about my experience with Virat. I talked about that I had seen one of my closest friends under my leadership. It was not even under his leadership, it was the style of leadership.
“Everyone is entitled to keep their style, and everyone is entitled to express their opinion on that style. It was my learning that I should have talked about him and we should expand that sensitivity to cricketers or people in the same community.”
