Rajasthan Royals (RR) fast bowler Nandre Berger faced official disciplinary action after their recent IPL 2026 match. The South African fast bowler received a financial penalty for violating the tournament’s code of conduct during the win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow on Wednesday.

Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 40 runs in the 32nd match of the ongoing tournament, which was played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. The team captained by Riyan Parag scored 159 runs and then bowled out LSG captained by Rishabh Pant for 119 runs in 18 overs.

RR fast bowler Nandre Berger fined for breaching IPL code of conduct against Lucknow Supergiants

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued an official IPL media advisory on 23 April. The board imposed a financial penalty and demerit points on Nandre Berger after his aggressive behavior on the field against Lucknow Supergiants.

“Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowler Nandre Berger has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee and also collected one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Wednesday.”

Nandre Berger pleaded guilty and accepted the match referee’s decision.

The statement confirmed that Nandre Berger pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the match referee’s final disciplinary decision without denying the allegations.

“Nandre Berger admitted a Level 1 offense under Article 2.5 – relating to using language, actions or gestures that are offensive or which may provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the match – and accepted the match referee’s sanction. For a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct, the match referee’s decision is final and binding.”

Nandre Berger gave a strong bowling performance while defending the target of 160 runs. He took two important wickets and gave away 27 runs in his four overs. Meanwhile, Jofra Archer performed brilliantly, taking three wickets for 20 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja saved the innings of Rajasthan Royals.

During the chase, Australian opener Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 55 runs for Lucknow Super Giants. However, the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals and their run chase never got under control as they were bowled out in 18 overs.

Earlier in the match, Rajasthan Royals were in trouble at 62/4 after nine overs. Ravindra Jadeja saved the innings by scoring unbeaten 43 runs off 29 balls and forming a crucial 33-run partnership with Donovan Ferreira.

Donovan Ferreira contributed 20 runs before getting out. After the recovery phase, Shubham Dubey provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 19 off 11 balls, taking Rajasthan Royals to 159.

This 40-run win is Rajasthan Royals’ fifth win in seven matches this season. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants suffered their fifth defeat and finished second from bottom in the standings, dealing a blow to their playoff hopes.
