Sunrisers Hyderabad have been officially eliminated from the competition, and Rajasthan Royals, led by their new captain Riyan Parag, have booked a place in the second qualifier of the competition after defeating Sunrisers by a margin of 47 runs.

Rajasthan Royals made it to the playoffs after a tough fight in the group-stage games of IPL 2026. The Riyan Parag-led team would have lost a few matches in the season and then qualified for the playoffs after winning only eight matches in the season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, had a contradictory start to the season but then won eight of their last ten matches in the season. Despite earning 18 points in the season, Sunrisers could only qualify for the Eliminator and missed out on the playoffs of the IPL season.

SRH had no answer to Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Sunrisers captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bowl against the opponent batting first. Vaibhav Suryavanshi got the game off to a flying start as Cummins and the SRH bowlers were beaten for runs.

After getting a great start, Dhruv Jurel scored another quick half-century of the season and with this, Royals scored 243 runs at the end of their innings. In return, Sunrisers Hyderabad could not even score 200 runs and lost the match by a huge margin of 47 runs.

Jofra Archer was the best bowler for the Royals in the season, taking three wickets, and Ravindra Jadeja, Nandre Berger and Sushant Mishra took two wickets each. SRH were eliminated from the competition after losing the game.

SRH’s winning streak against RR ends with massive knockout upset

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s winning streak against Rajasthan Royals this season was finally broken as they managed to win six matches in the season. Sunrisers have won six consecutive matches between 2023 and 2026, which culminated in the IPL 2026 Iminator as Riyan Parag’s RR won their first game in as many seasons.

Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen completed their season with 600+ runs and became the seventh pair in IPL history to score 600+ runs. While Klaasen finished the season with 624 runs, Ishan Kishan scored 602 runs in the season. He is also among the non-opening batsmen with 600+ runs in a season.

I like to be a perfectionist: Riyan Parag

“I like to be a perfectionist. We should have scored 260 today, right?” said RR captain Riyan Parag, who was not impressed with his team’s performance despite scoring the second-highest score in the history of the IPL playoffs.

“I was impressed with the way we bowled; we came back really well. Yeah, just leave him alone; let him go and have fun. He loves to bat, as I’ve said before, so we give him a lot of batting practice in the nets and things like that. And then he goes out and does his thing,” said Riyan Parag, reflecting on the young Suryanashi’s special innings.

“No, we keep having little banter. I think I almost caught the first ball he bowled to Abhishek, but it was wide. So I went to Joffra. I said, Joff, I need you to be a little tougher. And then he gets the wicket and he smiles inside and asks me, is that enough for you?

“So I think he is one of the best, if not the best, in world cricket. And I think when he is bowling 150 clicks, you don’t ask him to bowl slower. You don’t ask him to do anything. You just remind him if he needs any kind of reminding, otherwise he just does his job,” explained Ryan Parag on RR fast bowler Jofra Archer.
