Riyan Parag praises Dhruv Jurel’s innings after the win against GT in IPL 2026

Rajasthan Royals (RR) produced a crucial win in possibly one of their best performances against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 5. In a thrilling encounter, RR won the match by 6 runs in the last over of match number 9 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

The way Sai Sudarshan was batting since the beginning of the run chase, the target of 211 runs did not seem too far. As soon as Sudarshan was out, the trend of the match started leaning towards Rajasthan Royals, who scored 210 runs in the first innings.

Ravi Bishnoi was chosen player of the match

Ravi Bishnoi was named player of the match for his incredible bowling. He took 4 wickets for 41 runs in 4 overs and also completed the 200th wicket of his T20 career. With his skillful spin bowling, he took the wickets of Sai Sudarshan, Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia. The wicket of Sai Sudarshan was the most important for Rajasthan as the Gujarat batsman scored 73 runs from 44.

Gujarat Titans were in trouble when most of their middle-order batsmen were dismissed cheaply in quick succession. The contest intensified again when stand-in captain Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada counter-attacked and started tackling the Rajasthan Royals bowler. Till the last over of the match it was not clear which team would emerge victorious. Ultimately, it is Rajasthan Royals.

After the match, the captain of Rajasthan Royals praised both the teams for their efforts. In particular, he praised Dhruv Jurel’s innings of 75, which helped RR reach 210, and Ravi Bishnoi for his exceptional bowling spell, which proved decisive.

I was actually going to change the order: Rajasthan Royals captain

“I think it was incredible. I took a chance, thinking let’s go all the way and fast. And the way the boys performed, you can see my voice was cracking, I was just screaming. I was so excited by the fact that they did exactly what they wanted, and it’s absolutely crazy. I was actually going to change the order, so credit to Dhruv Jurel for that,” said Parag.

“They asked me to go to Jofra on the 19th. The plan was, because it was like a three-ball difference, it was 15 off 12. I just wanted to take a chance, just go fast, as fast as possible, as aggressively as possible. If it comes out, it comes out and it looks really good,” he said.

Ryan Parag wants to see Dhruv Jurel score 800 runs

“If it doesn’t happen, I’ll be sad and go again next time. I feel we haven’t done justice to his talent. He’s worked hard.”

He further added, “He has batted at number six and seven. But now when we saw, we had the opportunity at number three, I was the first one to say that he has to bat at number three and he showed us why he can do that. So hopefully this is the beginning for him and he will score 700, 800 runs and win us the championship.”
