Riyan Parag appointed captain of Rajasthan Royals: In a shocking development, India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been overlooked for the captaincy by Rajasthan Royals, and a familiar face is all set to take the reins of the franchise ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026).

There were strong murmurs that Ravindra Jadeja had left Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for captaincy pursuit after a historic trade deal was struck before the IPL 2026 auction last year, which was to be completed by Rajasthan Royals. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag were also contenders.

After ignoring Ravindra Jadeja and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rajasthan Royals handed over captaincy to Ryan Parag.

Jadeja was reportedly assured of the captaincy by the Royals, but it has now emerged that Riyan Parag will be the full-time captain from the upcoming IPL 2026 season. New Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara has finalized the Assam star for a bigger role, reports ESPNcricinfo.
