Team India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has returned to India and is preparing to start his recovery program at the Excellence Center in Bangalore. After consulting medical experts in Mumbai, Test Vice-Captain is aiming to return to the Test series against the West Indies in October.
Pants fractured their legs on July 23, attempting a reverse sweep against Chris Woakes on the early day of the fourth Test at Old Trafford. The left -handed batsman had to recall the closing of the series at the Oval, and the injury also dropped him out of India’s squad for the 2025 Asia Cup, which began on 9 September.
Rishabh Pant targets India’s next domestic series against West Indies
Indian selectors have chosen Sanju Samson and Jeetesh Sharma as wicketkeepers in the 15-member squad for the Asia Cup, when Rishabh Pant was dropped from the tournament.

Pants, which remains India’s first choice wicketkeeper-better in the test format, is now working towards making a comeback against the West Indies during the upcoming two-match home test series.
The series will start from 2 to 6 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, before going to Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi for the second test scheduled from October 10 to October 14.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, “Pants are targeting India’s next domestic series against the West Indies in October for its return, and if it does not, the white ball chain against Australia seems to be a realistic possibility in October-November.”

After the test series against the West Indies, India will travel to Australia for the White-Ball Tour. Three Odis Perth, Adelaide and Sydney will be played on October 19, 23 and 25, followed by a five -match T20I series. Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Gold Coast and Brisbane will host the T20I.
Rishabh Pant has been inconsistent in limited overs cricket. He was nominated to India’s squads for the England series in February 2025 and was earlier this year, but in particular, he did not get the feature in the Champions Trophy.
The pants last played the T20I against Sri Lanka in Palakele on July 28, 2024. He has missed the series against Bangladesh, South Africa and England, with the team management to manage the charge of players involved in Test cricket.

Rishabh Pant was appointed as the vice-captain for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy under the leadership of Shubman Gill. He scored 479 runs at an impressive average of 68.42, including two centuries and three half -centuries.
The left -handed batsman was forced to hurt 37 in the fourth Test at Old Trafford. He returned to bat the next day despite the pain and went on 54 score before being dismissed. He missed the fifth test, and Narayan Jagadisin was designed as his replacement.
India defeated England by six runs at the Oval to beat the series 2–2. Pant stayed in England after the series before returning to India a few days ago.
