Stand-in Indian captain Rishabh Pant has shown some aggressive gameplay with slip and short leg to put some pressure on the batsmen. He was also seen mercilessly scolding young Yashasvi Jaiswal for his poor performance in aggressive fielding positions.

The pitch conditions at the Guwahati Stadium are very different compared to Eden Gardens. This pitch has turn, bounce, carry and every other element that makes it an ideal red-ball track.

The Proteas also made full use of the conditions in Guwahati, as almost every batsman in the South African batting line-up made significant contributions in taking their innings past the 400-run mark.

Rishabh Pant scolds Yashasvi Jaiswal for poor performance in the field

Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of India’s youngest players in the Test team and has been scolded by almost every captain who has played under him. From Rohit Sharma in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Shubman Gill in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, no captain has saved him from getting scolded.

While fielding at short leg, Jaiswal was not adopting an ideal style, as he did not extend his hands to stop the ball but instead extended his legs. Pant looked disappointed and shouted, ‘Spread your hands; ‘Spreading your legs will not help in taking catches.’
