Another IPL 2026 to remember for a long time. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the team who was looking strong to claim victory, suffered a defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon. Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, experienced in two consecutive matches, once again took a wicket in the very first over of the game today. Abhishek Sharma was out on zero. Travis Head, the other part of LSG’s opening pair, also got caught in the trap laid by Shami. Heinrich Klaasen gave a strong performance against LSG

Like bowling, LSG’s fielding and catching were also excellent in their away games. Rishabh Pant took some amazing catches behind the stumps. Manimaran Siddharth also made a brilliant effort to shorten LSG’s batting order. The star performer in the first innings was fast bowler Mohammed Shami.
He took the wickets of Sharma and Head and completed his quota of 4 overs at an economy rate of only 2.25. The team’s emerging bowlers Prince Yadav and Avesh Khan also took two wickets each, while Lucknow’s main spinner Digvesh Rathi got the wicket of Liam Livingston. Rathi was the most expensive bowler of LSG in this match.
The Super Giants again came back to open the innings with their trusted pair of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh, pushing Rishabh Pant to No. 3, who opened the innings with Marsh in his first match of the season. After Aiden Markram’s strong innings of 45 runs, Pant ensured the team’s first win of the season by playing an unbeaten inning of 68 runs.
LSG won the match by 5 wickets, surpassing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first innings score of 156 runs.th 20 ballth In the over, Pant concluded the run chase with a four against SRH pacer Jaydev Unadkat. In the final of the match, Pant led the team to victory by hitting three fours.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant praised the bowlers
Rishabh Pant said, “I think in case of bowlers, you know, you have to appreciate them and give them one because, you know, they are the ones who set you up for the night, especially when you bowl first.”
Rishabh Pant lauded his bowlers for the win, saying, “I think Shami bhai, Avesh, Rathi, I think everyone has contributed really well, especially Siddharth who came in today. You know, we had decided as a base that he would play and he did really well for us.”
“We feel like, you know, the only thing is that there is never a perfect match. You know, as a manager you have to be critical but at the same time, you have to appreciate what’s happening inside. I think the only conversation is that you know, you know, executing the plan and not feeling like I can do it all. Trust your preparation and just focus on the game,” Rishabh Pant added.
