Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant had no option but to agree with the fact that it is their batting that has let them down time and again, despite their bowlers doing some remarkable work.
After the clash between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants, Royals have reached second place in the points table with their 5th win. After yet another defeat, now 9th placed Lucknow Super Giants are further away from the playoffs.
LSG fast bowlers restricted Rajasthan batsmen to very modest scores
The main strength of Rajasthan Royals’ batting order is in the top order, but they managed to get them out within the power play. Mohammed Shami got two wickets in the second over, in which Dhruv Jurel was dismissed.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal’s catch was a brilliant effort by Rishabh Pant, LSG captain Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out on the bowling of Mohsin Khan. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals until Ravindra Jadeja finally played the appropriate hand.
Jadeja scored some runs in partnership with Donovan Ferriera and then with influential batsman Shubham Dubey, who helped Jadeja gain momentum after a slow start. He scored 20 runs in the last over and managed to score 43 runs in just 29 balls.
Mitchell Marsh’s half-century went in vain, LSG lost by a big margin
Playing for Lucknow Super Giants, Mitchell Marsh opened the innings and scored a half-century for them. Ayush Badoni was out in the second over, while Rishabh Pant was also out in the same over.
After adding some runs in the partnership with Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, influential player Himmat Singh helped them in the second partnership, taking them closer to the set target.
After several strikes from Jofra Archer and Nandre Berger, LSG were all out for just 119 runs. Ultimately they managed to win the match by a margin of 40 runs.
As a batting group, we have to put our hands up and try to finish – Rishabh Pant admits batting mistakes
“I think it’s difficult to explain. Like, it’s definitely our batting that is letting us down, but at the same time, we are disappointed as a team, as a group, but at the same time, you have to keep finding ways. You have to find answers inside, not outside, but that’s the case so far,” Rishabh Pant said after losing the match against RR.
Rishabh Pant further added, “Look, definitely we could have taken some time while batting and also, you know, not making any excuses there, like, you know, including ourselves in that, like we could have taken it a little bit deeper because I think the bowlers did a great job, especially after the last game.
“As a batting group, we’ve got to put our hands up and try to get the job done for the bowlers as well. There’s still a lot we want to look at on the positive side, you know.”
“We all know it’s disappointing for us as a team, but you know, we have to keep our heads high and look for answers inside, and we definitely know that our bowling and batting have enough strength and we can still turn it around. That’s what I believe in,” Rishabh Pant said.
