As IPL 2026 is nearing its conclusion, a new report has dropped a big bombshell. It has been claimed that the captains of some teams which have consistently performed poorly will be dropped by the end of the season.
The report mentions that three particular captains who led their teams without success in IPL 2025 but still retained their jobs this year are likely to be sacked. All three teams in question have not improved at all on their disappointing performances from last year in IPL 2026.

According to PTI report, Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants), Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals) and Ajinkya Rahane (Kolkata Knight Riders) are going to be stripped of their captaincy at the end of this year’s IPL.
Under the same captains, none of the three teams have been able to qualify for the playoffs, and it doesn’t look like they will be able to qualify this year either. LSG has been officially eliminated, DC has been practically eliminated, and KKR is also very likely to not make the playoffs in IPL 2026.
