Rumors of rift between Shubman Gill-Rishabh Pant after LSG vs GT IPL 2026 game

After Gujarat Titans’ seven-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, Gill has reportedly liked a reel which features Pant making fun of him. This clip was from Pant’s early days with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). This was the moment from one of Delhi’s clashes with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2018.

In this viral clip, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was seen taking off from his run-up while Pant was ready to hit the ball. Both laughed at the SRH seamer’s call, but the left-handed batsman then hit them with big sixes. Later, Delhi’s wicketkeeper-batsman showed the tension to Bhuvneshwar.

The Instagram user captioned the reel, “We failed to promote this cheesy version of Rishabh Pant,” and now it is being claimed that Gill liked this social media post. That one was enough to start a big drama, as many fans were questioning if there was a rift between Gill and Pant.

Old pant-gill incidents resurfaced

Soon after, fans began digging into past moments. One such moment was in the IPL match last year where Gill quickly walked past Pant while shaking hands. Some felt that the GT captain ignored them, while others said that it was just a normal reaction after the loss and nothing serious.

Even during the England tour last year, Gill looked a bit disappointed when Pant was out while playing aggressive shots. However such reactions are common in high-pressure matches. There was also a run-out mix-up in another game, which created a bit of noise at the time.

The captaincy angle also added fuel to this noise. After the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Gill was given the Test captaincy, while Pant became his deputy. Some believed that Pant deserved the role as he had led the team in the past, but he later welcomed the call from the BCCI and praised Gill as a leader.
