Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has found himself in the middle of social media storm due to a false bid. The quotation began to round on Sunday (14 September) after the conclusion of the match in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 between India and Pakistan.

The match was killed by the ‘No Handshek’ incident as the Indian team had decided against being involved in the customic tradition due to the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year. Captain Suryakumar Yadav did not shook hands in the toss with his Pakistan counterpart Salman Ali Aga, and the entire Indian team did the same after the match was over.

Fake ponting quotes spread by Pakistan miscreants

Immediately after the game, Ricky Ponting was attributed to a quotation began to broadcast on X, with many misleading. The Australian legend was held responsible for commenting on Handshek Ro during the India vs Pakistan struggle in Dubai.

“The match will be remembered as a big loser with India forever. The way the Pakistani team finally wanted to join hands, he has immortally immortalized them as champions of gentlemen with India,” said fake quotes. The user who spread the quotation also said that Ricky Ponting had commented on Sky Sports.

Ricky Ponting replied

As soon as the quotation went viral, criticizing thousands of messages and slamming Ricky Ponting began to round on the social media platform.

Along with getting out of the hands, former cricketer-turn-commentator has addressed himself in a post on X.

“I am being held responsible for some comments for me on social media, Ricky Ponting wrote.

“Please know that I have not clearly made those statements and have actually made no public comments about the Asia Cup,” he said.

In India-Pakistan Loggerheads

Meanwhile, India’s cricketers’ decision not to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts turned into a major controversy.

This was the first match between the two teams, as the Pahgam was after the terrorist attack after the military conflict between the two countries earlier this year.

Soon after killing the winning six, India captain Suryakumar Yadav and batting partner Shivam Dubey immediately left the ground instead of joining hands with Pakistan players.

Pakistan players appeared towards the Indian dugout, but Indian players and assistant employees once again ignored them and returned to the dressing room.
