Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting slammed Shubman Gill for his captaincy during England’s first innings in the fourth Test in the old traffic. Ponting said that the Indian captain made poor strategic calls on day 2 (Thursday, 24 July), including suspected bowling decisions and field placements.
England is in a commanding position in stumps at day 2 in response to India’s total 358 runs. Ben Docket and Zak Croly laid the foundation with an aggressive 166 run stand. Docket ended for 94 and Croly for 84, but his partnership helped England top 225/2 in a day 3.
