29-year-old Indian women’s national cricket team fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur looked very aggressive with the ball during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final.
The India women’s national cricket team is currently taking on the South Africa women’s national cricket team in the final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Umpire warned Renuka Singh Thakur
After India set a target of 299 runs on the board for South Africa Women in the high-octane ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final, the onus was on the bowlers to get the team off to a good start.
Fast bowlers Kranti Gaur and Renuka Singh Thakur tried their best and bowled some tight lines and lengths in the beginning, but they could not get any success.
It seemed like the failure to get wickets had frustrated the senior fast bowler and this came to the fore during the 10th over. On the first ball of the 10th over, Renuka Singh Thakur bowled a full ball outside the off stump to Tajmin Brits.
Brits worked the ball back to Renuka Singh Thakur, who quickly picked up the ball and delivered a ferocious throw at the Proteas batsman, who made sure the ball did not hit her and it hit the stumps.
Umpire Jacqueline Williams did not like this action of Renuka Singh Thakur and she immediately called her and beat her severely. When the umpire reprimanded her, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur immediately got involved in the matter to support her player.
The umpire lost his temper! After the attack on Tajmeen Brits, Renuka Singh Thakur scolded on the field itself.

But yes, it is an important game, and somehow it feels like we are back in rhythm – Harmanpreet Kaur
Speaking at the toss before the start of the game, India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that they are back in rhythm and she expects her team to bat freely.
She further said that she enjoyed the semi-final win against Australia Women and took two days off to recover properly from the match. He elaborated:
“Given the weather and conditions we would have also bowled first. But yes, it is an important game, and somehow we feel like we are back in rhythm. Hopefully, we can bat freely and put up a strong score on the board. It is a bit sticky (the pitch) because of the rain and overcast conditions.
“The outfield is also a bit damp, but I think it should settle down well after five or six overs. We’ll try to do the same things again – play with intent, be positive and support our plans. We talked about that game that night, enjoyed the win and then had two days to recover and reset. Now everyone’s focused, and we’re really looking forward to this game.”
