The innings really ignited when Shimron Hetmyer played a brilliant inning of 75 runs in just 42 balls with the help of 8 fours and 3 sixes. Their attack was brilliantly complemented in the death overs by Sherfane Rutherford, who remained unbeaten on 57 off 24 balls.
West Indies scored 221 runs for 4 wickets with a remarkable run rate of over 11 per over. South Africa’s bowlers got some respite, although Keshav Maharaj remained economical with 2 wickets for 22 runs.
Quinton de Kock played a brilliant inning for the ages
Facing a mammoth target, South Africa needed something extraordinary – and Quinton de Kock did exactly that. Playing his 100th T20 International, the veteran opening batsman produced one of the greatest innings in the format, hitting a stunning 115 off just 49 balls.
De Kock’s innings was a mix of power and accuracy, consisting of 6 fours and 10 sixes. He demolished the West Indies bowling attack, increased the scoring rate to unprecedented levels and ensured that the chase never went out of South Africa’s control.
This century also proved to be a unique milestone, as De Kock became the only batsman to score two centuries while successfully chasing a target of over 250 in T20Is.

While De Kock grabbed the headlines, Ryan Rickelton played a vital supporting role. The left-handed batsman remained unbeaten on 77 runs in 36 balls and scored runs at a pace of over 200.
Both of them made a big partnership of 162 runs in just 71 balls and completely tilted the match in favor of South Africa. His stance effectively neutralized the pressure of the chase and forced West Indies to look for answers.
