Indian youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi will undoubtedly be the most awaited player in IPL 2026, but his former captain has made a shocking revelation ahead of the tournament.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi took the world by storm after making his IPL debut in 2025. He scored a century in his debut season, that too the second fastest century in IPL history, which is a glimpse of what is to come. He had scored centuries in South Africa, England and Australia even before the age of 15.
The player who showed full potential to become India’s future in the game has been termed unprofessional by RCB wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma. He led the youth team as captain of India A in the Emerging Men’s Asia Cup.
Jitesh Sharma chooses Vaibhav Suryavanshi to invest one million dollars
The India A captain, who previously captained Vaibhav Suryavanshi, agreed to invest one million dollars on the Rajasthan Royals youngster. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.10 crore, that too as a 13-year-old youngster.
“Right now, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. I think he can dominate world cricket. He has Gear No. 6 and a very good set of skills,” Jitesh said when asked to name a young player in whom he would invest a million dollars.
Suryavanshi was India’s leading run-scorer in the Emerging Men’s Asia Cup under Jitesh Sharma. The Men in Blue young team has struggled across formats and in different competitions whenever they have failed to score many runs for India.
AB de Villiers reveals he is a fan of Indian youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Legendary South African batsman AB de Villiers, who was known as a formidable white-ball hitter and holds records like the fastest List A century, praised the Indian youngster. He also claimed that he was surprised to see the way he took on the South African bowlers in the U19 World Cup.
“He is a great player. I saw him in the Under-19s. It is not always easy when you get a taste of the IPL and big cricket and still show the same standards. I was very impressed with the way he played in that World Cup. Very professional. He is very mature for his age,” said the former South Africa captain.
“I am talking about the way he played. He still stuck to his game plan. He played the way he played in the IPL. Didn’t try to be anything else. He wasn’t arrogant against the bowlers. But he will turn professional,” ABD said.
Jitesh’s opinion about the Rajasthan Royals young player is that he will never be a professional
Although Jitesh also praised the Rajasthan Royals youngster’s brilliant skills, he continued to dispute ABD’s claim that Vaibhav Suryavanshi will one day turn professional. However, the RCB star did not think so.
He said, “He is not a professional. I can tell you that. Everyone is trying to make him a professional, but I don’t think he will ever be a professional.”
“He may be on the field, but not off the field. I am trying my best. I ask him not to eat ice cream at night,” the RCB wicketkeeper claimed.
