Virat Kohli surpassed Chris Gayle to record the most number of sixes hit for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.
Kohli overtook both Gayle and AB de Villiers’ record of 239 and 238 sixes, respectively, in the same innings. The former skipper smashed an unbeaten 59-ball 83, which included four sixes and as many fours.
However, Gayle, who has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings in the IPL, is the top six-hitter in the tournament, with 357 maximums in 141 innings. Kohli is the fourth most prolific six-hitter in the history of the league.
