Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face each other in the 11th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season on Sunday, April 5 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This will be the second match in Bengaluru during the tournament after the opening match on Sunday, March 28.

The Rajat Patidar-led side started their campaign with a six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the season opener on their home ground. Meanwhile, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side, who finished bottom of the table last season, suffered a disappointing defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Royal Challengers Bangalore will enter the match without Josh Hazlewood and Nuwan Thushara. Rajat Patidar will lead the team after the initial win. Jacob Duffy and Devdutt Padikkal made the most of the home conditions at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will support Virat Kohli and Phil Salt at the top. In the opening match, both of them added only 9 runs for the first wicket. Kohli loves to dominate the opposition fast bowlers during the powerplay overs in Bengaluru. He scored 69 runs in 38 balls, which included five fours and as many sixes.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, Tim David, Jitesh Sharma, Krunal Pandya, Romario Shepherd.

Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma and Tim David will strengthen the middle order. In case of decline in the match, the management can use Krunal Pandya as a floater. Romario Shepherd can provide the finishing touch in the death overs and cross the boundary with ease.

Abhinandan Singh made his IPL debut in the recent match. He showed glimpses of promise but conceded 38 runs while taking one wicket in his three overs.

Chennai Super Kings need a strong opening partnership after their batting collapse against Rajasthan Royals. Sanju Samson will open with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Samson will also handle the responsibility of wicketkeeping while MS Dhoni is injured.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Ayush Mhatre, Matt Short, Shivam Dubey, Karthik Sharma, Jamie Overton.

Ayush Mhatre was moved to the No. 3 position in the last match. With Dewald Brevis injured, Matt Short will share the responsibility with Shivam Dubey. Dubey will have to attack RCB’s spinners, while Karthik Sharma and Jamie Overton add depth to the lower order.

Rasikh Salaam, who was picked up at a high price in the IPL 2025 auction, is another option.

For CSK, there are several impact player options available. Sarfaraz Khan or Urvil Patel can be used to strengthen their batting lineup in case of collapse. Gurjapneet Singh is an option as an additional bowler while bowling first.
