Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar addressed star batsman Virat Kohli’s injury scare after their win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2026 season. Kohli suffered an ankle problem and did not field the entire second innings, raising concerns over his fitness.
Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in their most recent match at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12. The Bengaluru-based franchise defended a total of 240 runs. RCB are third in the points table with six points, while Mumbai are eighth with just two points.

Virat Kohli looked uncomfortable while scoring his half-century in 38 balls. The experienced batsman finished his innings with five fours and a six at a strike rate of 131.57. Jacob Bethel replaced Kohli on the field while the medical team treated his ankle inside the dressing room.
Rajat Patidar addressed the media during the post-match presentation and gave a positive update on Kohli’s condition despite his absence from the field.
“I don’t know yet, but I think he’s OK right now,” Patidar said.
During the press conference after the match, Krunal Pandya also talked about the situation, expressing confidence in Kohli’s recovery.
“I haven’t spoken to our physio yet, but I think Virat will be fine,” Krunal said.

Phil Salt scored 78 runs while Rajat Patidar added 53 runs to help Royal Challengers Bangalore post a mammoth total of 240/4. Patidar praised the explosive opening stand and Australian batsman Tim David.
Patidar said, “And the way Virat bhai and Salt started the innings, I think it kept us in the driving seat. Then a good cameo by me and Tim (David), I think it was a pure team effort.”
Mumbai Indians were reduced to 222/5, losing by 18 runs. Sherfane Rutherford remained unbeaten on 71 runs in 31 balls. Suyyash Sharma took two important wickets, while Krunal Pandya bowled tightly and gave only 26 runs in four overs.

Krunal Pandya enjoyed a special homecoming by defeating his brother Hardik Pandya at the Wankhede Stadium. The left-arm spinner talked about his strong emotional bond with the venue and said that one of the Pandya brothers has to win.
Krunal said, “Wankhede has always been close to my heart. I have played here for six years and have been lucky to win three trophies in that time. So coming here has always been special, and as I said last year too, ultimately the points were coming home. One Pandya had to win and I think I was lucky in that.”
Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently at the third position in the points table with six points. Virat Kohli is in fifth place in the Orange Cap race with 179 runs at an average of 59.67 and strike rate of 162.72.
Rajat Patidar is second with 195 runs at a strike rate of 214.28, just behind leader Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has scored 200 runs.
