Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is reportedly planning to release one of its retained players from last season due to his off-field issues ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction. BCCI informed all the ten IPL franchises that November 15 is the last deadline to submit the retention list of their players.
Each team will have to decide which players they want to keep or release before the IPL 2026 auction, which is likely to take place between December 13 and 15 in India. As RCB and other teams finalize their plans for IPL 2026, the big uncertainty surrounds the future of left-arm fast bowler Yash Dayal, whose name has been dragged into a serious controversy recently.
Yash Dayal’s future with RCB in doubt amid off-field controversy
The young bowler from Uttar Pradesh, who was a key part of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling plans, is now reportedly under investigation after shocking allegations of sexual harassment and exploitation. Since two cases are still pending against Dayal, the defending champions may release the bowler.

He was one of the three players retained last year, but now his future with the franchise is in doubt. Dayal has been accused of raping a minor in Jaipur and is facing multiple charges of sexual exploitation. Apart from this case, a woman from Ghaziabad had accused Yash of sexual exploitation and physical violence by making a false promise of marriage.
At present Dayal has not got a clean chit in any case. Given this, as reported by RevSportz, the RCB team management is deeply concerned about the legal troubles involving Dayal and the negative attention it will bring to the brand.
After two separate complaints were filed against him, RCB is expected to sever ties with the fast bowler before the IPL 2026 auction to maintain a clean image and avoid off-field distractions, especially after the Bengaluru stampede.
Liam Livingstone set to be released by RCB, Cameron Green out of reach
Additionally, Royal Challengers Bangalore are also ready to take a bold decision on their overseas combination. The franchise may release England all-rounder Liam Livingstone after inconsistent performances with both bat and ball.
Furthermore, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who was on their radar, is reportedly out of reach due to purse limitations and high retention costs. Many franchises are chasing Green and this is making it difficult for RCB to retain the star all-rounder.

Yash Dayal’s rise with Royal Challengers Bangalore
Notably, Dayal’s rise with Bengaluru has been one of the most inspirational stories in the IPL, with him taking 28 wickets in 29 matches for the franchise. After a tough 2023 with Gujarat Titans, where he was hit for five sixes in a single over by Rinku Singh, he was written off by many.
But Bengaluru believed in his potential and bought him for ₹5 crore in the 2024 auction.
This belief paid off and Dayal performed consistently well throughout the season and became one of RCB’s leading bowlers, and he was retained by the franchise for the IPL 2025 season.
