The final approval was given after discussions with Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, as the stadium is set to welcome thousands of fans for RCB’s five home matches this season.

M. Chinnaswamy Stadium officials recently gave a detailed presentation to the state government’s expert committee, explaining all the new security upgrades introduced before the start of the tournament.

Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) officials shared complete information about the improvements made inside and outside the stadium. The main focus was on better crowd control, strong security arrangements and smooth entry and exit for fans during match days.

KSCA conducts mock drill to test crowd control and emergency preparedness

Interestingly, a major mock drill was also conducted at the stadium last week to ensure that everything worked properly before the tournament. The exercise reportedly lasted for about two and a half hours in the morning, starting at 9:30 am and continuing till noon.

More than 50 people took part in observations and emergency simulations to examine how the security teams would handle large crowds and any potential situations during matches.

Expanded doors and new entries added

One of the biggest changes made to the stadium is the expansion of the entrance gates. The authorities have widened several gates so that thousands of fans can easily enter the ground without any delay. Additionally, some new gates have also been added at Cubbon Road to manage the huge influx of supporters expected during the upcoming IPL 2026.

These upgrades have been made as RCB is set to play five of its seven home matches this season at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Apart from the league matches, the venue will also host a playoff game and even the final of the tournament.

Fans likely to get free metro travel for IPL 2026 matches in Bengaluru

On the other hand, the management of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited and RCB are currently in discussion about a special plan for the fans during the upcoming IPL 2026 season.

They are said to be mulling over the idea of offering free metro travel to match ticket holders traveling to and from the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru for RCB games.

A report in Moneycontrol reads: “BMRCL and RCB management are discussing a proposal to offer IPL match ticket holders a sponsored round-trip metro journey between any metro station and Cubbon Park metro station, the nearest station to the stadium. If this materialises, fans can scan the QR code on their match tickets both digitally and physically at the Automated Fare Collection System (AFC) gate of the Namma Metro.”
